Super Directional Antenna—3D Phased Array Antenna Based on Directional Elements

This paper describes an antenna design approach for achieving super directivity in AESA (Active Electronic Scanned Array) radar using unconventional 3D phased array (PA) concept based on directional Yagi–Uda elements. The proposed scheme is shown to have a wider scanning feature, with higher comparison the same geometry dipole without increasing element number. antenna’s microwave includes antipodal that implemented efficiently microstrip PCB balun (balance–unbalance)-fed network. type of valuable restricted aperture scans narrow beam increases angular resolution and measurement precision tracked targets also enlarges detection range or, alternatively, achieves performance lower number elements—meeting goal low-cost production. notable result high was obtained by both architecture, which allowed improvements Array Factor (AF) element’s spacing broadening scan sector, achieved via suppression Grating Lobe (GL).
